The origin of Sammarinese Blend green beans

An exceptional coffee experience depends on outstanding green beans that can only be achieved through highly efficient and sustainable farming practices. That is why Sammarinese Blend is produced at Fazenda Ouro Verde following a stringent quality protocol. Located in the region known as Low Mogiana in the south of Minas Gerais, the farm takes advantage of ideal altitude and favorable climate to grow specialty coffee.

Fazenda Ouro Verde

Our story

Fazenda Ouro Verde is a new property managed by a family with long experience and expertise in the growing coffee process. The farm was created to focus exclusively on the production of specialty coffee. All its operations follow quality and processes of a new sustainable agriculture, taking special care on the relationship with the soil, the water and people. All these special farming practices result in a much higher quality in the cup. Besides being a member of the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA), Fazenda Ouro Verde is certified by GS1 Brasil, Nucoffee, Certifica Minas, UTZ and Rainforest Alliance.

Location

Our farm is located in the region of Low Mogiana. It is a growing area running close to the border of the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais with quality drivers that are ideal for growing specialty coffee such as high altitude and favorable climate. At 1,150 meters above sea level, Fazenda Ouro Verde location has a rich soil, a consistent rain fall and favorable weather conditions to produce great coffee.

Our infrastructure

We have a modern infrastructure with coffee de-pulpers, washing stations, drying machines and adequate warehouse for storage. The farm also counts on many patios to ensure that the coffee dries slower and more evenly. Moreover, a complete system of process management grants total traceability of all the coffee coming from Fazenda Ouro Verde.




Production

Measuring about 291 hectares in size, the farm dedicates 130 hectares for growing coffee. We have an average production of 5,850 bags (60 kg) of coffee per year. Everything is manually harvested.

Quality

The principal varieties grown at Ouro Verde are Red Catuaí, Yellow Catuaí, Mundo Novo and Bourbon. They grow at 1,1150 meters above sea level and are harvested from June to September. The coffee beans are processed using  Natural, Washed and Pulped Natural methods. Sammarinese Blend is classified as sieve 17 upwards. In the cup, you can feel notes of hazelnut and caramel.




Environment

We follow modern agricultural policies to protect the environment and ensure the preservation of much of the original bio-diversity in planted areas. The native vegetation is protected close to more sensitive areas like water springs.  Moreover, tanks are used in the process and the water used on the farm is returned into the environment after being treated.
